What is the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW)?

The United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) (est. 1946) is the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality, the rights and the empowerment of women. Representatives of UN Member States, civil society organizations and UN entities gather annually at the CSW to accelerate progress and promote women’s and girls’ political, economic, and social rights.
